Where to learn about strumming patterns?

I just i really can't find a way to get used to it.

I've been teaching myself how to play guitar for the past few weeks. But whenever I look up chords to songs I want to learn, it says nothing about strumming patterns. It gets confusing sometimes.

I'd like to learn "Under The Bridge" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and during the verse part, there's a mix of single notes (triplets as I recall) in between the chords. How do I pick/strum that? Are there exercises that are good for developing...
