How can I improve the signal on my freeview box?

We have an aerial outside which is connected to it but I have trouble getting BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, CBBC, Five and a couple other channels and some of the signal strengths are low. The freeview box is in my room, my sister was one in her room which workd perfectly and my mum has one in her room and it is a bit better and we have sky down stairs. Can anyone please help???
