How can I improve my Freeview signal?

How can I improve my digital reception on my new freeview box?

  • It won't even recognise half the channels. Is it something to do with the freeview box, the TV or the reception?

  • Answer:

Check that your aerial is able to accept digital. You may have to change it.

It is the reception from your aerial most probably, although if the aerial lead has been split, the connections may be poor and this will grossly affect the digital set top box. A booster may or may not work: it all hinges on the system wiring and connections being secure, stable and up to the job, as well as the aerial. And it is always best to get the job done properly. And NEVER consider getting onto your roof yourself unless you have the correct equipment and safety gear.

I had this problem. I went to Argos (other stores are available) and bought a signal booster for about £10. It now works fine.

its to do with reception. Get an aerial lead and plug into a tv aerial which should be connected to a roof aerial. But some areas still can't get freeview at all.

The arial really needs to be outside. Also, check the web to make sure your area is fully covered. We live in SYxx xxx and the freeview website says we can't get digital TV yet. Although we do get most channels, we can't get Film4, More4 and the music video channels.
