How can I improve my freeview signal?

  • Ok so brought a new freeview box and its found most of the channels just not itv1 and channel four. and bbc one two and three are all pizilated and jumpy. how can i sort this out?

This is certainly due to poor signal. Missing groups of channels, or breaking pictures are classic symptoms. The only cure is to improve the signal input to the box. Check that your aerial is correctly pointing towards the transmitter and is not tilted or damaged. Check the aerial cable and plug too. If you have an indoor or loft aerial you should replace it with an outdoor one. If your aerial is very old, small or damaged you may need a new bigger one. Don't pay extra for a label saying "digital aerial" because there is no such thing and these labels on boxes are just boasting. Don't waste your time and money on "boosters". These amplify noise and rubbish as well as the required tv signal. Professional aerial installers charge about £130 to supply and fit a "future proof" aerial.
