I am having back surgery and need disability insurance?

I am trying to get my finances & my job straight before I go through with my back surgery that will have me off work for at least 3 - 7 months. I was wondering if someone knows about any disability insurance that would cover me? I have talked to two companies and both say its a pre-existing condition and they will not cover me. Any sugestions?
