Disability for back surgery?

I was recently leg go from my employer and need back surgery. Should I file unemployment or disability?

  • Would it be more wise for me to collect unemployment or disability? Or can I file for both?? Thank you

  • Answer:

You can file for disability, but you have to have doctors say that you should have it. It isn't easy to get. If you were fired, you can always file for unemployment, but that won't get surgery done. You have probably lost your insurance through your work place.

disabilityis what you need. Unemployment will expect you to look for a job while you are unemployed

Your best bet is to get another job immediately. You will then have health care and a salary - not a menial check and no doctor or insurance. Good luck to you.

both. let one get going well the other gets started. for it takes time for disability to get started. For just went though it.

You can file for both. Unemployment will give you some cash, but you wont have the insurance to pay for surgery. You can apply for disability, but you probably wont get it. It can take up to 3 years to get, 3 year wait for insurance and you basically have to be nuts or have no limbs!
