How do you handle someone who is so socially off?

I have noticed that sometimes I may make a simple comment or ask a question on a friend's FB page and one of their friends decides it is an insult to them and goes on the attack using that person's FB wall as a forum to suddenly attack my character....

I thought that the question Social Dynamics: How do you handle someone who is verbally arrogant, aggressive, and abusive, when you know deep down they have zero confidence? would have ended in this; but it didn't. Now there's both.

Why do some people feel the need to try & desecrate someone after they're gone? Why do something so hurtful especially when the person was a good person who hurt no one? :(
