ID needed for marriage?

I am getting married either 2012 or 2013 in Edinburgh. I am Scottish,my fiance is Polish but has lived in Scotland for 4 years. What ID do we need to book a registrar? Would my birth certificate and a photo ID card be ok? Its just a citizens ID card with the PASS logo on it. I have no passport or drivers license. My fiance has his passport but its Polish along with his birth certificate.
