Why does my Clear modem keep on restarting?

i live in my grandma's basement (HAHAHA YEAH) and she has internet upstairs hooked into a modem or whatever so i got a wireless router, netgear n150, to connect to her modem, a motorola sbv4200, and i get wireless downstairs and its fast. but. some days...

My DSL modem keeps restarting itself. It will work for about 5 minutes, but then it repowers itself up. It is a Verizon Westell 327W. Is it just crap? Or is there anything I can do to try to fix it? This is very annoying. Thank You!
