Why does my Clear modem keep on restarting?

Why do i have to keep restarting my modem/router?

  • i live in my grandma's basement (HAHAHA YEAH) and she has internet upstairs hooked into a modem or whatever so i got a wireless router, netgear n150, to connect to her modem, a motorola sbv4200, and i get wireless downstairs and its fast. but. some days i have to go upstairs like ever 30 minutes to restart the friggin thing because "DNS lookup failed" or whatever so then i dont have internet. why is it doing this and how can i prevent it? pleeease its annoying to walk up those stairs when youre drunk and sneak past your grandma's room

Your question is not 'doing it' for me, because you aren't giving enough detail for me to give you the right answer. 1. I understand that you have cable internet. That means that you have a cable router. I am not sure if the connection to your computer is a USB cable, network (10-base-T) cable, or a wireless connection. 2. I am not sure where the failure is occurring since I don't have enough of the question to give you a solid answer. I can't do much for you if the router is genuinely the problem. 3. If you have a internet connection that will not restore until you reset the router, it likely isn't your router's fault. Good luck, and add more details to your question (router model number, type of interface {wired vs. wireless vs. USB})
