Why does my Clear modem keep on restarting?

Why does my cable modem keep droping out?

  • I have plugged my computer directly into the modem and have resolved its not a router issue. my router and modem both look completely fine but I get no IP address. I cant figure it out for the life of me. Anyway please help. I am running windows 7 My router is a Apple Timecapsule. My modem is a SB5101(motorola) This is a link to my LOGS page: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/856/screenshot20110712at722.png/ Any help would be great. I keep disconnecting and having to reset the modem by unplugging the power source.

  • Answer:

Whether wireless or wired, you are able to access your modem's interface and check the logs, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. Though the information is vague, from what I can gather, it sounds like you might be receiving a weak signal from your provider. Solution(s)? 1. Call your provider immediately and tell them whats going on. They can remotely check your modem's signal/noise levels and should be able to get you back up and running. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
