Why do American football players wear tights and so much padding?

they're always being accussed of being soft, tennis players never get this treatment. football without helmets and padding would be a bloodbath.

The normal version of rugby players don't wear such stuff even though it involves more collisions by massive guys and is more dangerous.

It all seems over the top for what they are doing. The Rugby teams all over the world are 10 times harder than these big pansies and have no padding in a sport 10 times harder than American football. Would people still come and watch it if it were full...

American football is rugby for wimps. Just watch a rugby match; it is played in shorts and a top and is a far tougher sport. Presumably, all that padding, helmets, face-guards etc is to prevent injury. Awwe
