Why do American football players wear tights and so much padding?

Do American football players wear cups?

  • I know that many wear athletic supporters, or jocks, but do they use cups?

  • Answer:

nah man, i play football, and not even the weakest players wear cups, it takes away the comfort, iussually go out with just my boxers or the tights(gurdle) then wear the football pants. there are not a lot of news about guys getting hit in the jewels. theres no real concern about it.

To those of you who think it's obvious, you do realize that rugby players don't wear cups, right? And that sport is probably the closest thing to American football.

Well, if you want to avoid a very painful hit, you usually wear a cup.
