What channels are clear qam?

My campus hall provides cable TV signal for free. I don't want to buy a digital TV. What should I do or buy if I want to watch cable TV on my laptop? The digital channels are provided in "Clear QAM" format

I have Time warner cable and my TV tuner (WinTV HVR-1290) isn't picking up cable channels. what gives

So I bought a new LCD TV for Christmas to upgrade my old analog TV up in my bedroom. Now I have Comcast cable in Atlanta with all of the bells and whistles in my family room but I do not have the box upstairs to get the additional channels. So anyway...

if i hook up my hdtv to my cable line i get all my basic cable channels plus a lot of digital channels all in 480p.even the ones that should be in 1080p. though if i unhook my cable line and hook up my digital converter box i get all my local hd channels...

My apartment complex only offers HD through QAM channels through cable. They just recently added these local channels, so now I have like 7-1 (CBS HD), 10-1 (NBC HD), etc, but none of these channels are providing guide information and no show information...

I have a pc running vista x64 service pack 2. with a Hauppauge 2250 tuner in it. I have setup the tuner and the qam channels show up as found channels but when i try to watch them they do not work the only show blue and i have confimed with my cable...

I just got a Panasonic DVR but it only has a regular HD digital tuner. It receives all the basic HD channels here in Los Angeles fine. But it won't receive the cable channels such as CNN, ESPN, Lifetime, etc., which are carried here by Time-Warner Cable...

I have Comcast cable and 2 TVs both with a QAM tuner built in. When I connect both (in different rooms) one TV can receive more digital cable channels than the other. I have no idea why. Can anybody help?
