How do i get Windows Media Center to recieve Clear QAM channels?

I have Time warner cable and my TV tuner (WinTV HVR-1290) isn't picking up cable channels. what gives

Answer:
Hauppague doesn't list the 1290 on their site - are you sure it's supposed to be capable of ClearQAM? If it is, some channels are encoded in a way that a ClearQAM tuner can't decode them (they're not premium channels, just encoded for some reason no one can tell me when I asked).
