What LCD TV is better and why?

What is the difference between LCD, Plasma and conventional picture tube television.Which are the companies that manufacture LCD TV and what can be there prices.

I am looking to buy a new tv. I am looking at a 20 or 26 inch tv? Do plasma tvs come in this size? What has the better picture quality? How much would a 20 or 26 inch tv screen for a LCD cost? Any information would help!
