Why do my crickets die so much?

Yesterday i went to petsmart for crickets but they only had 8 left so i got them and i went to a small petstore and got 30 there well last night i put them in there 20 gallon tank with lots of egg crates and a bowl of bearded dragon pellets mixed with fish food. and a damp paper towel. Well i woke up this morning and looked in there and i can already so 2 that are dead laying upside down? Why does this always happen Crickets are NOT cheap!! Also could i feed my beardie dead ones?
