CAN MY EMPLOYER WITHHOLD A PAY PERIOD AFTER THE ORIGINAL WITHHOLDING?
-
MY EMPLOYER announced to ALL EMPLOYEES THAT THEY WERE GOING TO WITHHOLD OUR MOST CURRENT PAYCHECK IN ORDER TO RE ADJUST THEIR PAY CYCLE. MOST OF US ARE LIKE MANY OUT THERE IN THIS ECONOMY LIVING FROM PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK. Only after several complaints they then offerd to give a loan option to those who needed it but the amount loaned would be deducted weekly until the loan was paid back. The amount witheld would be available on the date of your end of employment along with the standard first week withholding that was taken during your first week of employment i cant understand how this could be legal it certainly dosent seem moral to have pay back money that you earned. By the way this is in the state of ohio. I would greatly appriciate any input on this issue.

Contact both your local legal aid office and the state's labor board.

how long are they planning to delay the pay check? a loan sounds like a lot of money to be repaid, and if you are required to pay it back, it is not as you say money you already earned, it is money you already got paid for time you already put in a better way would simply ask for an advance less than your regular paycheck which will probably be withheld with the next pay check you can check your state labor board on their rules for this situation
If you're saying they are changing your pay date, making it for example a week after the end of the pay period instead of the day after, yes it's legal.
You are not really losing anything, you are just getting paid a week later. If you need the money in advance of when you get paid, that is a loan. You will get that back when you leave or retire.
