Why does my cat always want me to pet her?

she always wants me to follow her into the laundry room and pet her while she eats and she starts purring and all that

I mean, rabbits in many ways have more advantages than a cat in keeping them, so why do most ppl go for cats as their next best choice after dogs?

I personally consider them useless creatures, they have no character, do not bark at or bite intruders, never respond when called and damage household furniture..... Why do people want to keep cats as pets, do they know something that I do not? Have...
