Why does my cat always want me to pet her?

I'm so bored of my pet cat, I want a pet that's more affectionate?

  • I'm trying to quit smoking, so I have loads of money left over :) I want to get a pet rat like I had before (even when I had a pet cat). However, I received a letter under my door warning me about my pet cat. But, since they are doing maintenance on the front door that has to be locked from now on, I can't let my cat out anymore, and I'm not supposed to have one in the first place. I lived here for over a year and they haven't minded, so I think this is sort of a warning that I can still keep her, but not let her out anymore...so, it would be risky to have a pet rat aswell :(...I just want an affectionate pet :*( My cat, like all cats only come and are affectionate when they feel like it :(

    my cat is very affectionate,she acts jus like a baby,if i leave the house she cries,at nite wen im sleep she cries at my door,an she always wants on my lap,beleive me it gets annoying so i say stick 2 your independant cat an cherish the affection she does give u

Since when are all Cat's only affectionate when they feel like it? My cats are affctionate ALL THE TIME. They sleep with me, purr every time I pet them and also my older cat sticks out his fangs when I pet the top of his head, sooo cute. (: For you to even type this out- you shouldn't be a cat owner period. You're allowing your cat to go outside destined to be injured, killed or stolen. Wouldn't you feel bad to let her out and never EVER see her again? Or what if she came back with bite wounds or major scratches and was bleeding all over? Get your cat a LOVING home or take her to a no kill animal shelter where SOMEBODY can enjoy her. An my friend had rats and they were not even close to as affectionate as a cat. So good luck. I imagine you'll just throw your rat out sooner or later.
