Why are my chat messages get undelivered sometimes?

Sometimes I will message someone and not get a response from them but later on they send me a message in my inbox replying to what I said in the chat. Its like my chat message was delivered to their inbox, why is that? Is it because they are on an ipod...

i'm on facebook and i wanted to sent a friend a message, on facebook chat... but the chat box said "Your messages will be sent to (insert name here's) phone." Why is it like that? It is like that for 3 people.. but not for anyone else..

every time i try to go into a chat room and after i click enter room the minute i go into it the window moves up and i can't see anyones messages at all and even when i go to another one it does the same and it won't do what its supposed to do.
