How to insert footnotes?

I don't know how to insert footnotes on Microsoft 2010, I can only add a footer. Thank you.

Iam using Indesign CS2 ver 4.0 and VB.Net to automat some functionalities,in the way i want to insert footnotes programatically at corresponding citations.

Please do not tell me to go to insert / footnote ... blah,blah. That does NOT work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That puts the SAME footnotes in each and every page.
