How are golf slope ratings figured?

this is a rating system in golf for handicap systems to be used on different golf courses depending on their level of difficulty. I would like to know if the letters individually in the word, slope stand for anything in particular?

Comparing two courses with similar course rating 69/70,but 122/143 on the slope rating What adds to the slope like this? Just more sloping greens/few more sand traps/water?

Yahoo! has the slope rating for Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside, CA as a 0. It should be 110. How do I get this corrected?

I played a course in the states with a 130 slope and one in Canada with 130 and the course in the states was much harder. I was just wondering on how much the difference is.

Do all courses have a slope and course rating, and where can I find them?
