How are golf slope ratings figured?

Where to find slope and course ratings?

  • Do all courses have a slope and course rating, and where can I find them?

  • Answer:

All the USGA sanctioned courses have them. To obtain a handicap and keep it, you will have to play on USGA sanctioned courses. If you get the score card for a course, the ratings will be on there. Some courses post it on the Internet.

The slope and rating are usually on the score card. If you want to check a data base I would suggest you check with your state golf organization. Here in Arizona it is the Arizona Golf Association. Do a Google search for your state. You can also look up many courses on the internet.

There are several online golf course search engines that have information about golf courses and carry their slope and rating, I would suggest that you got to www.usga.org/playing/handicaps/course_ra…

The USGA has slope and course ratings for many courses on its GHIN website: http://www.ghin.com
