Can you have a UTI without having bacteria in your urine?

A few months ago I took a urine test which said I had asymptomatic bacteriuria which is high bacteria in urine without usual symptoms of a urinary tract infection. I'm going through a genital herpes scare right now & won't see my doctor until Monday...

In other words, can whatever bacteria that is causing the UTI obscure the presence of an otherwise adequate (for detection in urine) level of beta hCG?
