Why does my cursor freeze up?

Why does my cursor freeze?

  • Nothing else freezes, just my cursor. I can still scroll up and down. and go to different things, but sometimes my cursor wont move at all. Whats up with that? Also, I have even changed mouses and it still does it, so thats not the problem!!!! The one that I have has a light that comes on when I move it, and it still comes on even though my cursor freezes!!

This is way out there, but possible given your set of symptoms. Mouse movement is still a function of your graphics card, it is possible the the source of your issue is related to that. Attempt to install the latest version of your graphics drivers from the website of your card's chipset. You can look up what you have by right clicking "My Computer", selecting Properties. Under the Hardware tab goto device manager and expand display adapters. If this doesn't work, I'd say that you are looking at something too strange to be troubleshot without a pro taking a look at your PC. Backup files and reinstall windows in that case.
