How do I find out if I'm eligible for Medicaid?

Will I lose my medicaid ??? ?

  • Im on medicaid insurance since Im low income and have a child on the way. I was wondering if I put my childs fathers last name on the birth certificate even if he doesnt sign will I lose my medicaid insurance? Please no rude comments I am not a welfare whore working the system Im a full time basic accounting student who can only work part time because school consumes my time Im not going to live off the system for the rest of my life its only temporary until I finish up my basic accounting degree in one year and can find a full time job to support myself and my child.

  • Answer:

You know, there are a lot of people including myself who worked their way thru college and did not go on medicaid or welfare at all. I had 2 jobs and full time college just to pay my bills. So you don't get any sympathy from me, not only cause you are now unmarried and pregnant so now who is going to pay for that kid?? So why can't the kid's father pay your medical bills too? As for losing your medicaid, doubtful.

no you wont loose your medicaid unless you lied on your application saying that your babies father was not living with you and he really is. i went through the same situation and i didn't loose mine but that was in missouri. you might want to call your case worker and talk to them bout it.

Medicaid in most states, is governed by household income. It makes no difference who's name is on or is not on the birth certificate. In order to know what the rules are in your state, you should ask your case worker.
