What will happen if you lose your passport?

If my brother gets his passport denied due to being born by midwife, could I lose mine too if i have one?

• I was born by a midwife and so did my older brother. I already have my passport and a government passport as well. He is having trouble getting his passport since he was born by a midwife. The passport agency keeps asking for more documents and they asked him for a copy of my passport. What could this mean? Would I be losing my passport if they deny his again? I dont understand why the government has such trouble accepting birth certificates from those born by midwives....sorry that my parents didnt have enough money to pay for a hospital...this was over 30 years ago!

  There have been a series of cases where midwives gave fake information and pretended that babies were born in the US when really they were not. I believe the cases were in Texas specifically, and the cases that I heard of only involved a few specific midwives. But they are pretty suspicious of it nowadays, because midwife births are obviously less regulated and it was easier for the midwife to lie than it would ever be for a doctor in a hospital to lie. It is possible that you could lose your passport but I don't know the chances, it depends on how much proof you have that you were born here. You might want to look it up. Sounds like your brother might need a lawyer?
