Is it possible to adjust the display brightness on my Dell Latitude?

How do I adjust my volume, brightness, scroll on my new Dell XPS laptop?

  • I just bought a new Dell XPS L502X laptop and the volume up/down buttons don't work, but the mute does. The brightness doesn't work either, I haven't tried the other options on the F(#) row. However, there is a touch pad up top with a "tools" display, once I touch it, all of the options comes up, but I'm having problems finding out how to control them directly from the F4, F5, F11, F12 buttons. Also, I'm having problems finding out how to scroll with the right side of my touch pad without having to use the side of the window on the screen to scroll down. That option to automatically scroll up and down pages just by the touch pad is sweet. I'd love to get that back. Any help would be great, THANKS!

  • Answer:

Ok a few different things here... First the volume can be controlled using the icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Second, the function keys should work by pressing the Fn button & which ever F# button to perform that task. Finally, the touchpad requires a driver sometimes. Check Dell.com or even Windows Update for it.
