Is it possible to get the brain eating amoeba from tap water?

-
Answer:
It was a protazoa, not amoeba. And the people got it from those netti pots - they used tap water which was contaminated and squirted it up into their nostrils to drain out, clearing the sinuses. The thing went from there up into the brain. So basically IF you have infected tap water and IF you're shooting it up into your nose, yes you have the possibility of getting it. Is it likely to happen? No. But it did to one poor schmuck.

Yeah it is possible but your chances are way less than 1% of getting. Three people get infected each year. Half of those are in the states of Florida and Texas and only 5% of those get it from tap water. It is possible to get infected but it is too rare to worry about. Hope this helps
