Why does my cursor jump around on its own?

    do you have a mouse connected to your machine? if so, is it sitting on a mousepad, or directly on your desk? i have noticed that if a mouse sits on certain surfaces, like wood, the light emitting form the bottom of it can not "read" the surface properly, and it causes the cursor to jump around. hope it helps.

I have the same problem with the Gateway laptop I bought this year. It is extremely frustrating. Please let me know what you find out. It was a hassle just writing you these few sentences

I had the same thing happen to me awhile back, only mine was happening so wild, I couldn't use my computer, anymore. I called a techie friend of mine, and he told me to replace my mouse. Problem solved.

I think it is a direct windows problem, when finger pad request input and generated a co ordinate for cursor. Mine happens even in disabled fingerpad mode. Really think Microsoft should fix this....sad but it is a flaw that wont be addressed without some brave soul filing class action suit for mass hyteria...sucks, no cure, alco? wipes? did not cure it for me...

I'm having the same problem with my screen jumping around. Glad to see oithers are too...I was beginning to think I was crazy. Has anyone found a cure yet???

This only happens to me when composing on the new improved Yahoo mail. Ever since they got rid of Yahoo classic there has been nothing but one headache after the other. Wow........you have a problem. My laptop did that before. All you have to do is clean the little fingerpad with a "Wet Wipe" or something just not wiht water.......make sure you get ALL the sides then it should stop! Good Luck!!

That is VERY WEIRD! You should return the computer,and get your money back to by a DIFFERENT brand of computer.Good Luck!
