How to treat a pulled hip flexor?

I do the following events in track: -100 -200 -triple jump I just recently pulled my hip flexor and pain in the groin area is becoming associated with it..is that normal? Also, icing doesn't really prove to help the pain subside so what else can I do? Stretching hurts so I have only been doing a little bit of that. Since the first step in triple jump is to kick back, how long will it take before I can do this without a rush of pain in my groin/hip?

It just sounds like you strained/pulled it but not too bad. Just be happy it's not torn. And yes, pain in the groin area is normal since your hip flexors are in that area. Honestly, you just have to let it heal and it might take a while (probably weeks). You don't want to rush back into your events and possibly strain it even further. Icing it and light stretching should help the healing process so keep that up. It should get better after a couple weeks but if it takes longer that 6 weeks go see a doctor and possibly get referred to a PT for some treatment. Move around daily and don't stay immobile for a long time or it will just stiffen up. Again, don't try to rush these things and just let it heal. Give it time, have patience, it'll get better.

I just pulled my hip flexor in soccer 3 weeks ago, and it still causes pain when I stop after playing soccer, and it locks up. Do lots of stretching( google has some good ones for hip flexors) and then ice ice ice. Don't push it. I overdid it alot and never stopped playing at all, and guess what? It's still here. Good luck :)
