What is a good treadmill workout for beginners?

Treadmill workout question? or suggestions?

  • is this a good treadmill workout schedule to lose weight? if not, do you have any? (: warm up for 5 minutes on 5mph run for 10 minutes on 7mph walk 1 minute on 6mph run for 10 minutes on 7.5mph cool down for 15 minutes on 6mph (i like my cool downs long) i've tried this, it REALLY pushes me, so i think that's a good thing? if i keep going, do you think i'll get results? i've been doing treadmill + dieting for about 6-7 weeks, i've lost weight but now it's getting harder because i've lost quite a lot. now i need to make things harder so with this workout, it really pushes my limits, i can juuuuuust do it BTW. i do diet so yea :)

    As long as you are pushing yourself (not too hard though) that's fine. Wether or not that is a good plan is really a matter of opinion. As a distance runner it's better to maintain the same speed the whole time rather than stop and slow down then speed back up again. However it's really up to you on what you like to do. -Connor

You've got results and it's been 6-7 weeks. Now the body will get used to this workout and you won't see results. You can intensify your workouts, run inclines, walk less. Or you can change the workout. Like try jump rope, dancing, stuff like that for a couple of weeks, and then come back to the treadmill.
