What is the legal holiday entitlement?

Working out Bank Holiday entitlement for staff...?

  • I'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around the Bank Holiday entitlement for myself and my staff. I want to make sure I don't short-change them and my company aren't offering any information. The way I understand it... > because Christmas Day falls on a Saturday this year, there is a Bank Holiday on Monday 27th so that those people who normally work Mon-Fri can still get a day off. > as Boxing Day falls on a Sunday, there will be a Bank Holiday on Tue 28th. So... If we normally work on a weekend and have Christmas Day off because we're closed... this means that the 'Bank Holiday' on Monday 27th doesn't count for us, right? i.e. we'd be back at work like normal? I don't know if this makes sense but if anyone find this easy, please help me out! ;-) Thank you!

Hi, oh i was in the same situation, but apparently because they are both on the weekend its comes under statutory time so the saturday and sunday are actually holidays in themselves...the thing is its not compulsory so you have to physically ask the staff if they want to work or if they want to stay off (at least that's what i was told to do) even though the place is closed.... i know its TOTAL stupid but apparently its the norm. You most likely will be back to work as normal but with a million things to do for the staff...sorry i know its a nightmare lol
