I think I have a really bad ingrown toenail?

It's currently around 3 in the morning and the pain woke me up about 15 minutes ago...it's a strong, even throbbing pain in one area of the cuticles on my right toe. For a while I had no idea what it was. Is it possible to wake up with a really bad ingrown toenail like that? I took to the internet and I've been getting mixed signals.
