REALLY bad ingrown toenail, what should I DO?!?

  • Answer:

you will need to get a teaspoon of lemon juice, a pinch of kosher salt, q-tips, hydrogen peroxide, ice, and toenail clippers. First, start by numbing the inflammed area with ice. After, dry the area with the kosher salt. After three minutes, drench the toe in lemon juice. this will cause the nail to break out of the skin. Then, dip the q-tip in the hydrogen peroxide and dab the area. Lastly, you must simply rip the toenail off with the nail clippers and/or fingers. TRUST ME THIS WORKS!!!!!

Go to the doctor! I just had one fixed last week and the infection was so bad they were worried that it might have gone all the way down to the bone. I don't recommend trying to fix it yourself... it will only get worse.

You'll probably have to get your toenail surgically removed by a doctor. My mom used to get really bad ingrown toenails when she was a kid and that is what happened to to her. She said they finally just cut off the edges of her original toenail so they wouldn't grow back anymore, preventing an ingrown toenail from coming back ever again.

Don't try remedies you need to get it sorted b4 it gets worse, you need to go to the doctors and then hospital probably to get it removed completely or partially, my dad had an ingrown toenail and had to get it removed but he said it didn't hurt that much :)

Soak it in very warm ( read : as hot as you can stand) heavily salted water. Afterwards when it dries and the nail begins to harden again, scrape down the middle of the toenail with a paring knife, scraping off some of the nail but not enough to hurt or cause bleeding. It sounds like an old wive's tale but it really works. I haven't had an ingrown toenail since I did it 16 years ago and I was very prone to them. EDIT: If he had said he had red lines tracking up his leg and he couldn't walk on it and yada yada sure it makes sense to go to the doctor. But he didn't say that. He said he has scabbing and inflammation. Which is common with regular old ingrown toenails than can be cured with warm salt water soaks. No doctor required. Hysteria is never recommended.
