How do I add an attachment?

When ever i add a picture from my computer to the mail compose window it prompts to add as a attachment or a zip file.I would like to learn to add the picture on the main window rather than a attachment or zip.

When using my yahoo email, my "attachment" or "paperclip" does not appear anymore. How do I add this feature back or how do I now add an attachment to an email???
