Can you really win free stuff?

There's ALWAYS those advertisement run sites with "offers" then in the end they say you get a free electronic. I mean, I'm sure a lot work, I've had okay experiences. I'm looking for somewhere where I can win, say an I-phone 3GS in less than...

I don't want any scams , frauds, or gimmicks. I want legitimate games, where if you win, you get cash without any hassles. If you give me websites that give away free stuff, it really needs to be free, without registering or signing up for anything....

My dad says that they have to pay a tax? Do they really win all the stuff for free?
