Are Blu-Ray 3D films good?

I know there is a Bluray and Bluray 3D edition of the film coming out and I'm just wondering if they'll release a normal edition 3D DVD as well using the blue and red glasses? This has been done for quite a few films and it'd seem like a waste of profit...
