What are an employee's rights in Turkey?

  • A good friend of mine in Turkey is an engineer. He s Turkish btw. He has not been paid for several months and can barely survive. Sometimes his boss will just pay him few hundred and other times he wont. He does not want to quit of fear that it ll take years for him to get another job. I badly sympathise with his situation. He told me his social security is not paid in full and he s only legally employed there months after he joined the company. What are his rights as an employee? Is there any organisations that is able to help him? He did toy with the idea that perhaos his company is faring badly in this economic crisis but their business has been picking up and his boss has been promising pay but nothing comes out of that promise. Im afraid its a matter of being taken advantage of. Please kindly advise thanks!

I guess he is not part of any employee's guild. In that case, ttbomk, his rights are limited by what is written on the contract he signed when he was officially accepted. Paying the social security is a must, he can report the situation, if he wishes. As probably he already knows, paying some money, he can get social security benefits, if that is what he is after.

I am so sad to hear about your friend's situation. But i don'd know any right in turkey as i in China! I am amazing why he would take years for another Job. is that because the finacial crisis?
