How to train for the 800m?

Is it to late to train for the olympics im 15 and i want to train for the 800m?

  • i want to train for the 2012 olympics

  • Answer:

The 800 meter run? I am assuming you are aiming for that? O.K. You are 15 and the 2012 Olympics are just over two years away. So you would be 17. That's too young to aim for something that big. Track and Field athletes tend to be in their early 20's to late 20's or older. At age 17 I don't think you will have hit your peak. But at age 21 or 25 you might be at your peak. I'd aim for 2016 and 2020. Right now if you can run 800 meters at or under 2 minutes then you got some talent for the event.

if thats what you want, go for it. You have to be really focused on your training anyway but especially in your case because alot of the athletes you'd be competing against have been training since they were younger. Good luck.

im 15 and i want to go to the olympics as well (for speed skating) go for it. if you really want it and if you are dedicated you will most likely succeed

:D

2012 is too soon. that's just two years. maybe you should train until 2016. but it depends on how good you are. if you've been competing for a long enough time, maybe 2012 is possible.

Well, it would have been better if you had more time, but if you have the stamina, go for it :)
