Which South-East Asian countries actually pay their professional athletes?

Getting pay for Gold medals?

  • I was wondering do athletes get pay for each gold medal (or any kind of medal) they win. I know some of them get pay by governments to compete for their respective country.(for example the U.S, China and other countries pay athletes to compete for them in the Olympics) But do they actually receive money for each medal they win? Thanks

  • Answer:

Athletes receive no money whatsoever from the Olympic Games itself. If they receive any money at all, and many do not, it is paid by the Government of the country they come from or the sporting body they belong to. As a result of winning, they are also in a good position to pick up advertising endorsements for a variety of goods and they normally get well paid for that.
