How to improve/train for 800m?

  • I am a 14 year old boy training for the 800m sprint, best time currently = 2.45 I train by cycling about 12 miles a day or running 3 miles a day, except wednesdays when i train on the track.... either by going for a better time. or a 200m sprint then 200m walk/rest 4-6 times (interval training) does anyone have any tips? :)

    You should be going to the track 3 days, not just 1 day. You must do more than just run 200, walk 200 to get better. Try doing one day of 4 to 5 times 400 at your projected race pace, say 75 seconds, rest 3 minutes. Another day do run 8 times 200 at race pace, with 2 minutes rest. You must stress yourself so your body can run the race pace, and you will be able to know your speed in a race. You should run evenly for each 200, not too fast or too slow at the beginning. Running 3 miles is better than biking for cardiovascular training, and you can bike on your off days like Saturday or Sunday. A good time trial would be to run 600 at your hoped for race pace, rest 1 minute then sprint the 200, your total time is very close to your race potential.

im a 400m hurdler. and the way i train is short fast training, like 100-300m sprints. and a long training like 1km-3KM so when you work on your speed you want to go fast for a shorter period of time. when your working on you distance a little slower. i think u should be running 1km x 4 sprint as hard as you can, have a 5 min break and report 3 more times. running more that what u do in a race is the best way to get you ready for comp. if you can run a 1km in a 1min or under, u will be able to get Better in your 800m, make sure u write down your times and try to improve next time you do it
