When are the Olympic Swimming Finals?

Olympic Swimming Finals?

  • How do the swimmers qualify for the finals from the semis? Is it like the top three from each semi automatically qualify and then the last 2 are the best times? or is it like only the best times that count (so rank doesnt matter)? or maybe its the first place of each semi qualifies and the other 6 are best times? Plz tell me which one is correct and if they arent then let me know how it actually is.

  • Answer:

It's the 16 best times that move from the preliminaries into the semifinals. Then the top 8 times from the 2 semifinal heats move on to the finals. The finishing order (technically) doesn't matter, but it's logical that the first several finishers in each heat will have the best overall qualifying times.

I think it's best times.

It's not the times, it's the best 4 of each semi heat if each those heats have 8 competitors.
