Are race horses that do not go fast enough being sold to people who slaughter them for people to eat in europe

No they are not.. If you go to the auctions that are at the tracks, they make sure slaughters cant get in, they raise the prices. Also, if a owner is selling the TB, the majority of the time, the horse gets either to be a stud horse, a broodmare, or a jumping horse. Theres always other careers, just let the horse rest for awhile and it can be used for another career. We have gave a few way to families that didn't have much, they turned the horses into jumping and dressage horses, and the horses couldn't be happier. That or they can be used on a ranch herding cattle.

Yes, unfortunately this is true & the horseracing industry is just a small part of the bigger picture. It is greed & spite that fuels this type of behavior along with cons & fradulant insurance claims on horses that have been "conterfited" & they must be destroyed before they are discovered & someone goes to prison! It happens so much & you would be amazed at the percentages of Congress people who are "investors" in racehorses. Things that make ya go hmmmmm!

some fall through the ranks. While you're painting that picture of horses running wild through the desert don't leave out the one of them starving to death, staggering, when feed supplies run out. Far more than TBs are the grade quarter horses and others bred just for the 'experience' of having a foal then don't train it. A TB with any kind of training and talent is open for another career. And why is the mustang always singled out? There's less than 300 Florida Cracker horses in existance - no one boo hoos over them. The mustangs are no better for geography and are far more numerous.

Yes, I have eaten horse in Japan. It's good raw with with soy sauce and garlic. I doubt that's something that is going to end soon. People who make a living on the land can't afford to be so sentimental about animals. Whose to say that if horses become sacred, cows and chickens won't be next?

Well I don't know about all that, but where I live they sell those horses in auctions and stuff. Actually we have an off the track race horse that someone had on their land. He's so sweet and good natured. But we rly don't slaughter horses here in the U.S. anymore, they are fortunatly going away, but I don't think it's rly that way in Europe, i've been there and I don't remember any horse burgers or glue or anything, so don't worry.
