Has anyone had a debt relief order?

Debt relief order and Official receivers, and inheritance money?

  • I have been in 13,000 pound of debt for the last year and been unable to pay anything back because what I did offer they would not accept. I've been told about a debt relief order but wasn't sure about this. My mum passed away at x mas and her house is yet to be sold, I have 3 other brothers & sisters so when her house is sold, the money is to be split 4 ways. My mum did write a will BUT it wasn't witnessed therefore it IS NOT a legal document, so the 4 way split is set to be in place. We will probably get 20 grand each once the house has been sold. I hate the thought of my mums life money paying off my debts AND in the will that she did write she wanted to give my dad 10 thousand pounds. If I was to give my dad 10 thousand when the money comes through, and pay off my student fees for the next 3 years, could I then do a debt relief order? will the official receiver want to know all about this 20 grand that was left to me? and will he look into my past accounts? and would it be legal if I was to spend it all first? I'm confused please help..
