How much would a skiing/snowboarding holiday be?

How much holiday entitlement please?

  • I work in a doctors practice, all the other staff are part time they work 4 days per week 20 hours - they get 24 days holiday which I believe equates to 6 weeks off. I work 37 hours 4 1/2 days and I get 25 days holiday that equates to only 5 weeks holiday, so when I have my wednesday which is my half day as holiday should I be using half day holiday. thanks

  • Answer:

Your legal minimum holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks, which for a 5 day a week employee works out to 28 days. This includes bank holidays. If you work 4.5 days a week, your minimum allowance is 25.2 days, which would be rounded to 25 days, including bank holidays. So you have the minimum entitlement, and in fact you get a lot more than the minimum if you get bank holidays on top of the 25 days. And if you want to take a Wednesday off you only use half a day of your entitlement as you are only taking half a day off. Some employers calculate by hour rather than by day or half day, but the end result is about the same.
