There's is no law stating that a person is required to pay income tax?
-
I am watching this movie zeitgeist, and it says there is no law, requiring public to file for income tax. Moreover it says that IRS is unconstitutional. It wasn't ratified by all 50 states.

Answer:
The movie isn't even good entertainment. It is NOT factual. First off, there most certainly IS a law. It's called Title 26 of the US Code. Here's a link: http://uscode.house.gov/download/title_26.shtml There's no way that the tax could be collected without underlying law. Nor is there ANY way that someone could be imprisoned for violating it. The idiots that made that movie must have been on some serious drugs when they came up with that rubbish. There's nothing in law that says that the IRS must be "ratified" by anyone. Where you came up with that, I haven't got a clue.

Please don't treat that flick as anything other than poor quality entertainment. It's about as real as Snow White or The Wizard of Oz.

Yup your right it wasn't ratified by all 50 states, just the 2/3 required for it to be. But go ahead and try that argument with the IRS, then join the line of prisoners headed to prison for failing to file a tax return. Numerous US Supreme Court decisions have held it to be constitutional.

Listen to liars and go to jail. This movie is a lie. The laws are constitutional, the laws were ratified. It's been argued to the supreme court and the system won. Even some of the idiots who propose this nonsense pay their taxes--they don't want to go to jail.

Not true. the federal gov't okayed it. Besides there are a large number of heavily armed men and women who say you do pay taxes. Would you rather be wrong alive or dead right?

Anyone can put anything out on the internet. I can put up a site that says the moon is made of green cheese - that doesn't make it true.

There is no law, but the government doesn't care, the IRS IS unconstitutional, and I suggest you continue to pay merely because I doubt you have enough influential power to win in such a case.

Wanna bet? There is very little truth in that movie. http://www.quatloos.com/hereisthelaw.htm
