Law stating that basic pay should be higher than any allowances?

There is NO law stating that citizens of America have to pay taxes, right?

  • So basically it's not a crime to not pay taxes. Am i right?

  • Answer:

There are many laws saying Americans have to pay tax, but so called tax freedom idiots continue to sell their trash to other idiots. One favorite argument they like to make is that the IRS states it collects tax on a 'voluntary' basis. This is a complete (and intentional) misunderstanding of how the IRS operates. The icnome tax system is based on voluntary cimpliance, which means every American is expected to tell the IRS how much they made in income. That is the 'voluntary' provision. However, while that refers to voluntering the information, it does not mean you get a choice. If you FAIL to give the info, or fail to pay, then other methods are used. It is anything BUT voluntary to pay the tax.

Uh no. The constitution was amended to allow the federal government to tax. The tax law (which is massive) does just that.

No, you are wrong. Title 26 of the U.S. Code is law and within Title 26 there are sections that require citizens and residents of the United States to pay a federal income tax. It is not voluntary, never has been. http://docs.law.gwu.edu/facweb/jsiegel/Personal/taxes/JustNoLaw.htm http://evans-legal.com/dan/tpfaq.html Brief time line of federal income tax laws... 1861 - first income tax law in the United States passed. 1872 - income tax law allowed to expire. 1894 - new income tax law passed. 1895 - new income tax law declared unconstitutional as it relates to income from property (i.e. rental income). 1909 - Act to amend the Constitution concerning income taxes passed by Congress and sent to the States for ratification. 1913 - Enough states have ratified the 16th amendment and it is declared ratified and added to the Constitution. 1913 - Income tax law passed. While it has been modified, superseded and revised many times, at no time during the years between 1913 and now has the United States not had an income tax law. 1917 - U.S. enters WW1 1918 - WW1 ends 1941 - U.S. enters WW2 1945 - WW2 ends 2008 - Wesley Snipes convicted of not filing income tax returns and paying his taxes.

Al Capone went to prison because of tax evasion and not for being a gangster, so the law is definitely written in a way that says that you have to pay it.

You saw that Harry Reid video clip, didn't you? The guy is an idiot. It's voluntary to pay your taxes until you fail to pay. Then they come after you and your assets. The IRS says, "Your taxes or your assets!" It's like an armed robber catches you in a dark alley. He points a gun to your head and says, "Your money or your life!" Well, what choice do you have? In both cases, you have a voluntary choice.

Wrong Tariffs were the largest source of federal revenue from the 1790s to the eve of World War I, until it was surpassed by income taxes. The first federal statutes imposing the legal obligation to pay a federal income tax were adopted by Congress in 1861 and 1862 to pay for the Civil War. The 1862 law levied a 3% tax on incomes above $800, rising to 5% for incomes above $10,000. Rates were raised in 1864. This income tax was repealed in 1872, but a new income tax statute was enacted as part of the Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act in 1894.[4] The United States Constitution specified Congress could impose a direct tax only if it was apportioned among the states according to each state's census population. [5] In its 1895 decision the Supreme Court held in the case of Pollock v. Farmers' Loan & Trust Co. that a tax on income from property (a tax on interest, dividends or rent) was a direct tax under the Constitution, and so had to be apportioned.
