Towel Trick on xbox 360?

I tried the towel trick on my Xbox 360 once. Now I regret doing it. what are the chances that my xbox will be premantly broken by using the towel trick once? I'm about to send it in to get it repaired

All the towel trick does is overheat ur xbox so that it can go from 3 rings to 2... once it cools down it will work.. for a bit.. mine only worked for like 2 day intervals.. i did it like 4 times untill I gave up and sent it in.. it won't be permanently broken.. but once xbox 360s get the ring of death normally they'll just send u back a whole new xbox without the glitch.. mine has been fine ever since.
